A story in a graveyard
Sacred to the memory of
Robert Flockhart
M.D.
Royal Navy
aged 25 years
youngest son of the late
William Flockhart
of Innafrech.
who died at sea on board
the BRISK brig of war.
on the 27th Dec 1838.
and his body was
committed to the deep
100 miles to the south of
Cape Sierra Leone.
Coast of Africa
He was the
only surgeon on board
whilst actively engaged in
supressing slavery in
that very pestilential
climate, where he fell a
victim to the fever, with
nearly all the officers & crew.
This stone always draws me into the graveyard, when I go for a walk along the side of the Loch.
Today I was feeling less than perfect, but I still went to see it, just for the blippers out there.
