Big Stopper

This is the Hopes reservoir in the Lammermuir hills in East Lothian.

Yesterday I alluded to a new gadget that I was picking up. And here is the result of my £2.98 welders' mask replacement glass from Machine Mart.

This is a 45 sec exposure - the in-camera result has a weird green tinge that disappears if you simply de-saturate in Photoshop. I think it will be better in faster moving water.

I'm not shelling out £100 plus for a 12 stop ND filter if I can find an alternative that (perhaps) works just as well for a fraction of the cost. Besides, I suspect that this effect will become as passe as the tobacco grad for skies!
