Sun
Sun, solar radiation, shining light, sunbeams.
Without the sun, there would be no life.
Without the sun, there would be no plants photosynthesising,
no trees, no grass, no flowers, no orchids, no vegetables, no strawberries.
Without the sun, there would be no animals eating the plants, eating each other, sun bathing and sun gazing.
Without the sun, there would be no beach trips, no picnics, romantic walks, or holidays.
Without the sun, there would be no light, no colours, no sunsets or sunrises,
..no photography, no energy to power this computer, no warm seas to swim in and no ice cream.
93 million miles from our tiny planet. It keeps us alive.
4.5 billion years old, with 5 billion to go, we are a tiny blip in its lifetime.
14 million degrees Centrigrade at its core & it takes 8.3 minutes for its light to get here - enough time to make a cup of tea and be thankful that the kettle boils at the flick of a switch - with energy that originally came from the sun.
Today's blip was brought to you with a star known as the sun, the letter S and a break in the clouds.
* Not recommended for eyes or sensors, but I love it.
