A buoy story
When walking in the bustling port of Stornoway today I couldn't stop snapping away as there was simply too many interesting boats to take photographs of. However I settled on this photo for tonight's blip as with a bit of help from Google I discovered a story.
The boat in the photograph is the Northern Lighthouse Board's, MV Pole Star. She is one of two ligthouse tenders which service & resupply all the lighthouses and navigational buoys around the Scottish and Manx waters. On googling the name 'Billia Croo West' I discovered that this buoy is brand new West Cardinal navigational buoy which will soon be moored off the renewable energy test bed station near to Stromness in Orkney.
So a buoy story unravelled thanks to Google. What did we do before Google?
