Treebeard the Ent spotted in Northumberland
I love reading, though nowadays it is always audiobooks. My all-time favourite books are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings Trilogy. I rarely watch films or television but must say that if The Hobbit film, being filmed at the moment, is as good as the LOTR I will make an exception! Rob and I love walking in the beautiful English country-side, this morning we set off through Hulne Park, here in our hometown of Alnwick, part of the Duke of Northumberland's estate. We walked 3-4 miles, through sunlit glades and deep woods, along the banks of the River Aln and between masses of wild flowers including orchids. I can't think of a better way to fill a few hours! During our picnic lunch in a clearing, whilst sitting on a fallen log, I spotted two young sparrow-hawks chasing each other through the trees till their mum called them sharply to order! My husband Rob is blind but he gets just as much out of our walks as I do, he uses his digital recorder to capture bird calls to check when we get home, though only he could find such a good signal in that dense wood that he was checking his facebook on his talking mobile phone! I saw many trees, bushes and flowers, but as soon as I saw this one I knew it would get photoshopped when we got home. I have actually only added some hair and 'highlighted' his eyes.
