The eyes have it...
After a morning walking in the Cambridgeshire Fens, I came face to face with a European eagle owl rejoicing in the name of Clunk at the Raptor Foundation at Woodhurst. With a 6ft wingspan, these huge birds were once resident in the UK, but it is said they were hunted to extinction during the late 19th century because they targeted livestock. As well as other birds, they prey on mice, voles, rabbits, hares, foxes, young sheep and even roe deer. There are reports that some eagle owls are currently living in the wild again in the UK - so beware!
For the record: 17C, cloudy, cold north westerly wind
