Roses

I have been trying to work out how to do the manual focus on my camera so I can actually take a pic of something that isn't miles away and still keep it in focus. I have managed to find the doodah that does the focussing, however this seems to cause the lighting thingamabob to malfunction. As you can tell I have a highly technical grasp of how to operate my camera.
Anyway .... here's a rose.
