Errors 'n all

I was very encouraged by the various comments yesterday regarding my 300mm project, thank you all.

I thought I had seen another potential shot as I walked Scamp today, so returned late in the evening to a bridge that crosses the main West Coast Rail line north of Carlisle station, and which provides a view over much of the city.

My vision wasnt worthy of a blip though, as an ugly concrete-works vied for attention with the old factory that was the supposed focus of my attention. Also, the building being of drab sandstone really needs shot in contrast to its surroundings rather than amid a hundred similarly drab brick houses.

So;

Lesson 1 - elevated vantage points don't necessarily provide the best shots
Lesson 2 - when something (else)interesting comes along the road, as important as taking a photo of it, is that you should open the aperture/raise the speed.
Lesson 3 - dont try to use a heavy 300mm lens anything but wide open WITHOUT a tripod. If you must go handheld, press shutter release after your heartbeat

Despite the glaring error I think this impromptu shot still has some interest, with the young girl appearing more interested in texting than exercising horses, and the learner driver behind possibly in for a long wait to get past.

(Lesson 4/note to self - setup the custom modes)
