Tombstone - Manchester Southern Cemetery

Southern Cemetery, Manchester is a large municipal cemetery in Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Greater Manchester, England, three miles south of Manchester city centre: it was opened in 1879.

Most of the tombstones are simple, almost utilitarian and many have figures of angels collecting the deceased or pointing the way to heaven. This figure, with the child, seems particularly poignant.
