Westbury White Horse Hill Climb
After spending the day in the class room,I decided to get out tonight and exert some energy. My local cycling club (Westbury Wheelers) keep a record of its members times doing various hill climbs. I quite enjoy hill climbs so thought I would give one a crack.
Tonight it was the Westbury White Horse. Starting from the gate outside the pottery to the crossroads at the top (130 meters climbing in total). I started off at a sprint before settling into a steady pace. After hitting the bend I went for a very low gear and high cadence. The last 100 yards was pure pain - when I reached the top I felt like my internal organs were going to pack up. I recorded a time of 6min 51sec which I am very pleased with. I know I am slightly on the heavy side at the moment (touching nearly 15 stone). If I can get back down to 14 stone I know I can skim some seconds off this - not sure I can face it for a while though!
You will notice that art was never one of my strengths.
