Ikebukuro

With Japan's second largest station, Ikebukuro owes its development to the investments made by competing railway companies, chiefly Seibu and Tobu. The Sunshine City building, from which this shot was taken, was built on top of what used to be Sugamo Prison. Local proprietors were happy to see the prison go because department store shoppers could actually see into its grounds.
