Facing the sea
The water at Le Grau d'Agde was a little chillier than last time, after all the rain we had on Tuesday night, but still all right for a quick dip before lunch in our favourite café by the beach. These are two of the balconies on one of the buildings above the café, some of the older examples of seaside architecture in this resort, probably dating from the 1960s.
The tones look a bit like an old colour photo from the same era because I realised only after I'd taken this shot that I'd left the white balance on cloudy last night.
We had a bit of a lucky escape as we reached the beach. Just as we were putting out stuff down by the water's edge we heard a huge crash from the car park nearby and turned back to see that a car had crossed the pavement where we'd walked minutes before, demolished some bollards around the car park and hit one of the dodgems in a small fairground just inside. Luckily no one was hurt. It wasn't clear what had happened, but the police were still taking witness statements when we left the beach for lunch.
