Bumpy Ride

It seems that I may have been over eager to welcome the arrival of the clouds yesterday as I hadn't thought about one thing, the fact that we had to fly through them.

After lengthy check in at Marco Polo which took a total of two hours (mainly our fault for booking with a low cost airline!!!) we boarded the plane and we were off on our way. Shortly after take off and just as the cabin crew member was starting his spiel about the on board service we started to hit a little turbulence, which, after twenty seconds or so culminated in the biggest drop I have ever experienced on an aeroplane.

It was actually so large that people screamed and the plane itself groaned and banged under the stresses, it was really quite unnerving. It wouldn't have been so bad had we not then suffered a second larger drop about thirty seconds later, accompanied again by gasps and screams.

The feeling when the pit of your stomach is hitting the top of your chest cavity is really quite remarkable, the sick bags were no doubt getting some good use!

Kudos to the crew member on the tannoy who, although sounding slightly worried himself managed some quick thinking to say "put your hands up if you want to go faster" to lighten the mood slightly!!

I have to say it's something I never hope to repeat on a plane journey!!!!
