As idle as a painted ship, upon a painted ocean
It's always something of a surprise to take the dog for his customary walk and to find a ship at anchor off the coast.
This is SD Salmoor (I was able to decipher the name by enlarging the image) waiting outside Fishguard Bay. It's apparently a salvage and moorings vessel that's used to perform nautical maintenance work on navigation buoys and the like, and to take part in rescue work.
The little sailing boat seems to be trying to get a closer peek.
(Note that I've resisted referring to the ship as she. As I suspected, the convention is rooted in sexist assumptions and the use of the gendered pronoun was dropped by Lloyd's List shipping journal in 2002, according to this item. How men love to kid themselves they are in control!)
