The Garden Gate

...or so I've heard!

I love the anticipation of pausing here to get out of the car, open the gate and drive down onto the stones, entering the world of the Cottage. The gate itself is pretty amazing! It is very wide and it seemed it would be difficult to balance it in a way that the weight wouldn't cause it to become hard to open and close. That is why being married to a contraptioneer is extremely helpful when a wide gate must be built. The action of opening and closing this gate is so smooth and so balanced. It is perfectly counter weighted and just says 'welcome'. I don't know all the right descriptive words to use, but he did an amazing job!
