Male Lyrebird....
A very dreary misty damp day....did I mention cold....
But the birds love it....
This is a male Lyrebird, with his magnificent tail....when he's performing to a female, his tail is over his head,in the shape of a lyre...and he mimics every bird sound known to birdkind.
I was in the National Park a couple of weeks ago and heard at least 20 different bird sounds coming from a display in the bush...all from one bird.
I'm totally in awe,to say the least.
One day I hope to capture a lyrebird in action, but won't hold my breath...but will remain aware...and try.
This shot was taken in 'can't see 2 feet in front of you' mist,so not very clear, but I think it was worth posting.
