plums a-ripening

So, we have about 17 fruit trees in the garden, most of them either plum or damson. The first year we lived here we saw these plums and waited for them to turn red (plum-coloured) but they didn't - they rotted on the tree, because they're not red plums!

This year they're a good couple of weeks earlier than usual, but I'm keeping my eyes on them. They're just about ripe now - I'll get out there on the weekend with a bag, and I think it'll be plum crumble, plum pie, plum betty, plum soup, stewed plums, plum jam, plum ice-cream, plum sauce, plum pastry, plum-tastic!
