what not to do with a goiter

i left yesterdays african night with lots of useful books. one was a medical handbook for african villages (hopeful one i won't be needing in malawi!).

so now i know that you should not treat a goiter (enlargement of the thyroid gland) with a vultures brain. or by rubbing it with a dead child's hand apparently.
