A Wet Showing

Today was the Bishop Wilton Show. I lovely family day out was planned though the weather had other ideas. I took Granny up to the show field early so we could enter some classes and so she could commence her stewarding duties, as the rain howled down.

I ended up staying quite a while so as to help empty the pools of water that were gathering in the corners of the tent roof and to help cover all the photographic entries from getting a wetting. I was asked to hang around whilst the judging happened so that someone could prevent the incoming weather issues. I thought this was ok until I realised I may see how my entries were being judged. Thankfully the weather eased so I did a runner to get the rest of the family.

I am glad I didn't hang around as, although I did ok, I did not hit the dizzy heights of the previous years. Oh well, there is always next year, I think I may need to get more animal shots for then as they seemed to go down well this year.

The rest of the show was fun but the rain just would not go away, which really put a dampner on things. Toddler, however had fun on the slippery bouncy castle and Baby enjoyed swinging on the ropes that were sectioning off the event areas, even if he did face plant into the wet grass a couple of times. Grandpa also did well in the photos though it was Wife who stole the show with a first in the highly competitive class of chocolate cake, at her first attempt, as well as a second for her flapjacks.

I took this shot of Ruby at the terrier racing. Ruby was not only the fastest dog of the day for about the fourth year running but also one of the fastest terrier I have ever seen. I hear she can hit 22mph, I can't even hit that on a bike, downhill with the wind. I think Ruby could give a few greyhound a run for their money.

As we left the show the heavens hammered down on us, soaking us all through, and then the car got stuck on the way out. Thankfully I got a quick push and got out, though I fear for some of the ones still left in the car park. Moments later we were all back home sitting on sheets for tea and prize winning cake to help us dry out.
