Sheep and Schiehallion

Day trip to Kenmore today, driving along the single track road from Amulree.

Fantastic views of Schiehallion from here - the very first munro we climbed, back in 2006. That makes it sound as if we have done loads more since then .... but we haven't. We've only done one more - and that was three years ago now. Really must do another one soon.

I decided to stop and take a photo of it, as we hadn't seen any of it the day we climbed it. The cloud was so low that three quarters of the height of it was obscured that day.

As I was taking the picture, I noticed a sheep about to come onto the road. I thought that might make a good shot - a sheep with Schiehallion behind. I kept clicking away but the sheep kept moving, jogging right to me! As it trotted, I too was trotting backwards, to keep it in the frame with Schiehallion in the background. Then it suddenly dawned on me that, the way the sheep was looking at me, and heading straight for me, that it might actually be going to charge me. Oh hell!

I shouted out to it "I'm only trying to take your photo - stay still" but this spooked it, and it headed off onto the moorland - well out of shot! I didn't know whether to be relieved that it wasn't coming to butt me, or disappointed that I hadn't got a decent photo of it and the mountain!
