Adder!!

We drove over the Bealach na Ba to Applecross. The drive over the 'Pass of the Cattle' was spectacular and then north along the coastal route no less so.

We lunched at The Potting Shed in the walled garden which was delicious. Highly recommended.

We stopped at Sand bay where Monty Halls filmed his crofting sojourn for the BBC. We played on the beach and photographed the deer nearby.

I nearly trod on this adder whilst getting a close up of a stag. It was very exciting and I instantly knew it was an adder, Britain's only venomous snake. This specimen was about 45 - 50cms long. I ran to get the kids. Niamh saw it with me. Fin missed it unfortunately. It had disappeared into the heather.
