Midgefly

I think this is a midge fly not a mosquito. For one thing, I caught him and several look a likes drinking nectar from sage and basil flowers which seems like highly unlikely behavior for a mosquito. They were also not interested in chewing on me, it was mid day while they were out and I am not getting bitten up at night. They are so tiny. In part, I took the picture so I could try to identify them and see what they really look like. They seem to match up to the midge flies at this website:

It seems it is midge fly season.
