Neglect - George Railway Museum

The huge storms of 2006 destroyed much of the track and infrastructure of the region's only preserved steam railway. This in turn has knocked the stuffing out of the museum, which flourished as long as the train ran between the station in the museum and Knysna 50-odd kilometres up the coast.

The line is at risk of permanent closure because there are no funds to re-build the line, embankments and its civil engineering.

Nonetheless, there are several preserved Garratt steam locomotives here, formerly the heavyweights of SA's railways. I wonder how long it will be before the government claims lack of funds, closes the museum and disposes of these giants?
