York University Subway Station I - So it begins

I came back from vacation to find the road diversion in effect and the trees (blipped here) all cut down where the subway station will be, and the digging under way. See the model blipped here and also a cutaway blipped here. This subway extension was first proposed in the early 1970s. It's been a long wait.

I took this photo from the second floor lounge in the Accolade East building where music and art are taught. It's a perfect vantage point and I will blip from here regularly to show the progress of construction. It's going to be a long four years to put in the entire subway extension in time for the 2015 Pan-Am Games.
