saving biodiversity in the oceans
Today I spent a few hours with a young man hearing all about a plan to create a series of marine parks in the south west of Western Australia. We have the third largest ocean in the world and many biodiversity hotspots. 90% of the marine life off our south west coast is unique apparently not found anywhere else.
Another wonderful thing I found out about was the huge underwater canyon about 45 kms off the coast of Fremantle. This canyon is an important feeding ground for the blue whale - the largest mammal ever on the planet.
So today's blip is of the ocean and all its wonders!
