Give it a try

This morning we noticed the wheelspace temperatures of the gasturbine were higher at one side of unit EC 5.
We investigated it and noticed a valve was shut that should be open.
These valves have to be shut during waterwash of the compressor and opened afterwards. They are secured by a special key. After closing the keys of all of these kind of valves (about 12) have to be put in slots in a cabinet. When one key is missing, the unit has no permission to start.
But: the complete securing set apparently fell off after the unit had been started up. (not the first time, this is the only unit that has not been modificated yet.
After that the valve closed by itself.
Here Martin (turbofreetimer) has volunteered to give it a try.
The heat was immense (about 70° C (158F) ) and it was a tremendous noise.
We had to crawl between the hot pipes under the gasturbine.
Martin did not succeed....
So: I had to request for a short stop at our Dispatch center for tonight, hopefully the nightshift succeeds.
