Opera House

I'm not sure if I've blipped it before. I've certainly wanted to! I love this building.
Lyon's Opera House was re-designed by famous architect Jean Nouvel in the 1980s. He kept the bottom part of the original building (which dates from the 19th Century) and added several underground floors, aswell as some more on the top. The whole description is here, if you're interested.
I've been inside twice, one time for a visit and one time to hear music. The interior is fascinating aswell, the rows of seats are very steep and everything is pitch black with just a few red lights to show the stairs. The idea, apparently, was to make the public focus on what's happening on the stage, and not on the balconies as in the classical Italian Opera Houses, where the interest resided in watching the public (who's there?) as much as the performers.
