Chicken on it's butt!
Originally beer cans were used to prop the chicken up as it cooked but I bought this cool pottery thing for this specific purpose. You fill up the pottery cylinder with sangria and add some fresh basil and other herbs. I put some celery in too then propped the chicken on top ---well sat the butt right up on top of the cylinder. Put the whole thing in a pan with lots of home grown potatoes and some carrots, mushrooms and celery. After it's done cooking it's quite delicious. Made the meal for son "gander"--alias Martin . He and his wife are home for a friend's wedding! Goose is spending the night with long time pals having a "reunion".
I always get a good laugh at the way this looks just before we divi it up to eat. Makes quite a presentation!
