Porte de la Tour

We drove a part of the 'Grand Boucle des Collines'. There where the Rhone is the natural boundary between the regions Ardeche and Drome. In particular we visited the Albon Medieval Site.

This site is a place with nearly thousand years of history. One of the remains is the Albon tower which you can see on the photo.

This tower has survived ten centuries of history. It's a part of the original building on the castle motte at Albon. It does in fact date from the eleventh century.

The importance of the motte is considerable. It lay at the origin of a state: the Dauphine.
