Happy Anniversary
Today is our 15 year anniversary. Wow, there is definitely something about saying you've been married for 15 years that makes you suddenly feel older than you care to feel. Although we have been married for 15 years, my husband and I have been together for 22 years. Now THAT makes me feel old. We've spent more than half our life together. It's been quite a ride, a lot of growing, compromise , love, laughter and fun. All of which have brought us to this point and what makes us who we are. It's all been worth it and all the good times and the bad times have served a purpose. We are blessed!
This year was to be the BIG anniversary where we celebrated it with a trip to Hawaii or some tropical island. Well life happens and vacations don't unfortunately. We didn't get our dream anniversary vacation and I admit that I was upset about it. I had planned a replacement beach weekend get away but that had to be canceled due to the fact we had so many unforeseen expenses arise this past month. I'm hoping for our 20th or maybe even next year we get that vacation we have been dreaming of.
While my husband was away at work I spent the day running errands, waiting for my new refrigerator delivery that never arrived due to the fact the distribution center in Seattle failed to put it on the truck, waiting to pick up our SUV from the shop it's been at for a month now which also turned out not to be completed yet (I'm getting tired of hearing "it will be done tomorrow", I've been hearing that for over a week now) and picking up this little cake. My dear friend made this in honor of our 15th Anniversary. My friend enjoys making baked goods and offered to attempt to duplicate the top layer of our wedding cake. It's not an exact replica but it's close. She was so sweet to do this and I appreciate what she did and her friendship very much.
Our anniversary celebration was a night out at a Downtown Portland restaurant, The Ringside. How can I have lived in Portland my entire life and never gone to this amazing establishment? I've heard about it for many many years but we've never gone. I'm so glad my husband encouraged us to celebrate our special night there. After the day I had I was ready to throw in the towl and eat at Taco Bell, just kidding. This restaurant had an incredible atomosphere and reminded me so much of my dad when we walked in. They waiters were dressed in suits or tux's and accomodated your every need. Frank Sinatra and the rest of the Rat Pack were playing in the background while we ate and celebrated along with many tables around us that had various celebrations taking place. It was a special night and as it turns out you don't need a tropical vacation to celebrate a special day such as your 15th anniversary.
Thanks for those of you who stuck around and read this entire blip. It's quite lengthy as apparently I'm feeling chatty this morning. ;)
A side note. Those raspberries we picked never made it to the desert they were intended for. I ate too many. Maybe this weekend I'l see if theres more I can pick. I'll TRY and make sure I save enough for my desert this time
