Self-control

When I was given these early birthday presents a few weeks ago my mum asked me if I wanted her to look after them for me. I insisted I'm not a child anymore for goodness sake, I learnt a long, long time ago that if you open them early you spoil the surprise for yourself.
I certainly wouldn't have come home tonight and rattled some parcels, felt them or wondered if an early birthday would be in order.
