The Neville Files

Grotesque

Today I was helping the Mike Braybrook Archive set up its database.

Mike was a printer in North Kensington [Ladbroke Grove area] and set up The Printshop which was a community printshop which enabled the locals to cheaply print their posters and flyers for community events/protests/demonstrations etc. It was also used for gig posters and record releases for local, independent bands, record shops and labels.

Sadly, Mike died a few years ago and his friends and people who benefited from his time and generosity have got together to collect and catalogue many of the fascinating printed materials that Mike kept.

This is a poster promoting The Fall's wonderful third LP on local label and record shop Rough Trade. You can see the smears in the ink at the top where it hasn't mixed properly and the white edges show it never got as far as being trimmed - a reject.
