Transition Town?

There is work getting underway to look at the possibility of my local town becoming a "Transition Town" - essentially a low carbon, resilient town. I went along to a meeting about it tonight for a couple of hours to find out what the plan is and how we might get involved.

It's a movement which has gained lots of traction recently, with some great successes, so the local community development teams are seeing if they can blow life into some sparks of interest.

This book is the "bible" of transitions towns, by all accounts - and by happy coincidence someone bought me it for my birthday earlier this year - how prescient...!

Any blippers out there got any experience of this? Ideas and guidance welcome!
