Update on yesterday's:

It's thought there had been a break-in at the house of the old man who died. He was not from this part of Wales and his family moved out of the area a couple of years ago.
The local resident of whom we made our enquiries happens to be an archaeologist and referred to the hidden box as a 'ritual deposit' - but whether it was deposited by a relative or by a thief we cannot say. The mystery remains.
