More trains

The gentleness of this picture really belies the destruction that was taking place. He'd been playing nicely. The animals had crosses the railway without incident. There had been no derailments. Then he wanted to see the pictures I'd been (trying) to take, unsuccessfully, as it's pretty hard to get down on the floor these days to be able to see what I'm doing so it's a bit point-and-shoot for perspectives like this. He was evidently happy with the shots, so the train was derailed, the animals strewn everywhere, and the trees felled.

It has been one of Those days.

Ben was awake and downstairs while daddy was trying to get out of the door to cycle to work. That was 7.30am: he was late; I was still asleep. As daddy was late he didn't sort Ben out with cereal and a DVD so I was woken up by Ben yelling at full volume up the stairs "MUMMY BEN WANT BREAKFAST MUMMY, BEN WANT RED CEREAL MUMMY. MUMMY WAKE UP MUMMY!!" followed by what sounded like a chair scraping across the floor. The yelling wasn't enough to get me out of bed I must admit - but the thought of Ben trying to reach the cereal by himself certainly was.

Cereal and DVD sorted I tried to fall asleep again only to be disturbed when the DVD had finished by Ben prodding my face with his fingers and telling me "Ben done POO mummy. Mummy, wake UP mummy. Ben done POO mummy."

*sigh*

It has been the sort of day where you are so tired (for no apparent reason) that your whole body feels like lead; and therefore your toddler decides that's the day to investigatively throw a space hopper across the room because it's bouncy and fun (and sends the cereal (thankfully dry) and drink (thankfully with lid closed) on the table flying), and to throw his very big plastic toy car down the stairs. Just because.

He climbed into the corner of the room and dug his orange pull-along bag out, presented me with the empty packaging inside (two empty boxes for yoghurts, a plastic aubergine, a plastic tin of mackeral and a box of milkshake), and went into the kitchen to refill the bag with the contents of the fridge.

At least I got some work finished and sent off today. Just need to get the invoice done and sent off now before I forget.

My tummy hurts so badly and I can't go back to bed until Ben is ready for a nap, which despite a late night last night and an early morning this morning he does not seem at all inclined to do.

I don't think we'll be making it to swimming today :-( Maybe I could persuade Steve to take him in the morning instead and let me get some rest...
