12-spotted Skimmer

What a name! I did a little research on this guy, and found out that it was a male dragonfly and the name of it, but I thought it was interesting that all the information I looked at said that the 12-spot skimmer had black spots at the tip of the wings; this one doesn't, the markings are completely different than all the photos I found.

Anyway, I was excited to be able to get some shots of this little guy. I was taking a walk around the campus and spotted him but I didn't have my camera. I hurried back inside to my office and when I came out with my camera, he was still there. He seemed to be really enjoying basking in the sun. I envied him that, the sun was so inviting, I would loved to have laid down beside him and taken a nap.
