Hahei Beach, Coromandel

This morning Ross, our host in Whangamata, took us to Hot Water Beach. Unfortunately the water was too rough, with a 2 metre swell, to feel much of the hot water. Usually you can dig a hole in the sand at the waters edge and wait for it to fill with natural hot water. the kids did manage to warm their toes by digging them into the sand below about a foot of sea water.

From there we called in at Hahei Beach for an excellent hot chocolate. On the way home we stopped at a number of bays and lookout points. Torrential rain but wonderful views.

We also called in at the 'twin kauris' and took a few photos of the 'kings of the forest'.

Today's winner though is of a series of islands out from Hahei Beach.
