Remembering
I caught up on an section the paper I put aside weeks ago today. The reporter walked around the cordon describing streets and landmarks in our shattered city.
Several times I needed to re-read the street names and close my eyes to picture them as I knew. I was shocked to discover I struggled to remember some of what he described.
Every day more buildings disappear, something like 1000 in the central city alone. In the suburbs it's normal to come across cleared and bare sites. It's not just me, many of us wonder "what used to be there?". It's a strange sensation to lose landmarks.
My tooth. jaw and headache are settling. I popped out this afternoon to do errands before tomorrow's forecast snow. I was surprised to see the angle of the side of the Opawa Community Church.
Best I blip it now before it's gone and there is another empty space.
