Lathyrus Odoratus

By lathyrus

Bad hair day

Had two successful forays today. The first was in the mire - an area of old clay workings - inside the woods at Markstakes Common. Lots of ragwort with soldier beetles, cinnabar moth caterpillars and a beautiful rose chafer beetle. The second was over on the chalk grassland at Malling Down near Lewes where there were lots of gatekeepers and red admirals flying around. It was here that we also found a few of these Round-headed Rampion. Its also known as the "Pride of Sussex" and is the county flower. It was rather windy so quite difficult to get anything without a bit of motion blur.
