Star Anise
My brother gave me a large tub of Star Anise a couple of weeks ago. Been thinking about light boxes and underlighting different objects (am borrowing overhead projector tomorrow so that I can play around with some ideas).
In the absence of the OHP - stuck the lid of the tub on top of a lamp, with a sheet of paper over the top, with a scattering of the Star anise on top. Set to high ISO to get grainy/rice paper feel to the image - reminds me of the paper screen doors you get in traditional japanese buildings.
Had to stand on a chair to get right over the top of them!
The best bit was the smell - as the bulb heated the lid and paper, the seeds began to give off their distinctive aniseedy smell - lovely!
Other shots from tonight
More of the moon - should be the final shots in this gallery - two 'waxing' moons!
