Oslo Today
Military presence everywhere.
Streets closed.
Broken glass on the pavements.
The sound of mourning.
Yesterday - while on the beach with my family, playing with rain and a faulty shower, hundreds of youths on summer camp were fighting for their lives on a small island right outside of Oslo.
We had no idea.
What we knew was that Oslo had just been struck by a massive bomb in the center of town. A total destruction. We all felt the ground shaking beneath us.
After the bombing the doer of the deed traveled to a small island just outside of Oslo where politically active youths had their summer camp. He gained access to the island by presenting himself as a police in uniform. He said he was there to comfort and make sure they were all right. He then opened fire.
We are all struck by endless grief.
Endless sadness.
I have spent the day in the center of Oslo, taking in the reality.
It will take me some days to process the photos.
It will take me forever to process what actually happened.
A prayer -
May we avoid this temptation: believing in a political motive.
May we not separate ourselves from neither the doer nor those who were struck by his terror and destruction.
May we see we are all one, for better or worse.
May Gandhi´s words flood light our lives; that we ourselves be that change we want to see in this world.
May the lives lost be the single light bulbs guiding us on that path of hope...
