Eco clashing

How you you make a concrete building more interesting? The answer appears to be cladding. A new building opened at work today, it includes an extension to the end of an existing block, which is prompting lots of Titanic themed comments as it is shaped like the bow of a ship. This is a small wooden cladded section, how do architects dream up designs????
