Midsummer Madness
Best viewed large for total blackbird madness!
Yesterday was a small interlude from Wild - although the mad folk of Devon are pretty wild but not in this sense... this is about as wild as it gets round here, well, mad in a bird sense - this is Bonnie Blackbird, quite a character! She's really beautiful looking, but in this pose she was sunbathing & blackbirds tend to look rather manic doing that... the sun goes to their head!
Update on the Larry family - it's the first time in 12 weeks I haven't seen Larry Legs today - it's the end of nesting season, the fledglings can now fend for themselves & Larry like many other birds tend to disappear now & spend the rest of the Summer hiding deep in the undergrowth as they moult - plus they get to have a nice relaxing chilled out existence, after all their hard work raising several families. Anyway, I hope he's ok, he might be back & when he's back, you'll all be the first to know!
Little Larry - wow! I was right, he does take after Dad, he came & found me today in the orchard & sat on his Dad's favourite apple tree. Later on he sat in the hawthorn tree & then came & sat on his Dad's favourite chair & posed & allowed me to take his portrait just like his Dad - the similarities are frightening, this is Larry of the future, this is Larry who will breed next year... so maybe original Larry has left this garden & me to him? I don't know... but it's a nice thought, right? :)
Thanks for all the comments from yesterday's blip - SL too - didn't think it would reach that, but it did... I guess the history lesson & the ghost story helped! xxx
