To Korolev

Korolev, 30 minutes north of Moscow by commuter train, was the centre of the Soviet Union's space research - we walked past 'Central Mission Control' as we wandered into the large national park on its edge, and stayed in a hotel attached to an old research institute. So attached, in fact, that in the summer when the institute closes, the advertised breakfast and sauna were not available.

The arching curve of the railway station, the sense of space, and the emptiness of the station, seemed to make it a fitting memento to the place.
