Harwich at last

Left Dover at 8.00 this morning to a sunny sky, smooth sea and no wind.
The gps was playing up yesterday and won't play at all today so it looks like we're crossing the Thames estuary using the handheld garmin.
This proved to be really hardwork, my crew was borderline seasick when the boat started to gyrate so I did the nav and the nosh, tea and coffees, while he put in long stints on the helm.
Not helped by having uncorrected charts and finding our chosen channel across the Long Sands was obstructed by a new wind farm under construction and the marker buoys had been removed. Had to backtrack and cross some fairly shallow water to get to another channel - in all lost about an hour and did an extra six miles.
Doing well until the Gunfleet when the sky went black, the wind roared out of the north east and everything went exciting again. With half the jib unfurled and the motor we were covering the ground at 7 knots so that was one consolation. By this time we could see Felixstowe and made it through the entrance by 6.30pm, into Levington by 7.
65 miles in 11 hours.
Just got to snug the boat down on the moorings and wait for the gov to pick me up and drive me home.
