Ulsterwater, Cumbria
I thought I may as well get in the act and photograph my local lake too.
Though not living quite as close as some blippers and unable to match the lovely images they have produced, I thought I would try to be different and include some additional info re the history of the area.

In the early 16th Century travellers from Ireland "discovered" this lake and named it Ulsterwater. At that time in history the people of Penrith were scarcely out of the caves and saw the lake as no more than a good place for their annual bath (many still do).
The name stuck until 1902 when Alfred Wainwright, writing in his smashing 6 part novel about the area, made a spelling mistake which stuck, hence the current moniker of Ullswater.
