The heat reached 94F/34C (not factoring in the humidity), and my sister-in-law convinced me in no time at all that we didn't want to go to the Statue of Liberty, wait in two-hour lines, and climb to the top in this kind of heat. My daughter took a little more convincing, so I offered up a boat ride telling her, "This way you can actually see the Statue of Liberty! You won't be able to see it very well from inside it, right?" She bought it...so much so that she was convinced it was her idea :)
