The saxophone was invented by the Belgian musician Adolphe Sax, to fill the middle ground between brass & woodwind instruments. He patented his designs in 1846.
The instrument's smokey tones lend it to smooth, sophisticated music. Like "Careless Whisper" by George Michael, "Will you" by Hazel O'Connor, & the music at the end of the Benny Hill Show...
