Weighty Subject

Kereru - Native New Zealand Wood Pigeon. Beautiful birds, and huge. When they land on a branch it dips and sways under them and I always hold my breath to see if the branch will survive the invasion.

We went for a drive up the Owen Valley this afternoon and there seemed to be wood pigeons in every other tree. Some just sleeping, others feeding on tiny flowers. Afraid my local tree lore isn't what it should be so I'm not sure what they were eating, but they were enjoying it.
