Over the Sea to Mull
Summer Holiday Backblip No.2
Decided this morning to blast up to Oban from Northumberland and try and catch the 4pm sailing to Mull. So after a (very tasty) fry up (courtesy of the campsite owners), we packed up the tent (in the rain) and hit the road with 41/2 hours to cover the two hundred and something miles.
Turns out that 41/2 hours was pushing it and despite Daddy driving like a typical Audi driver, it became apparent we wouldn't make it. A call to Caledonian Macbrayne and all sorted - booked on the 6.30 crossing. Pressure off.
Finally pitched up in Oban to find that the 4pm siling had been delayed and we could in fact board if we got our skates on. A bit of frantic hurtling about and we drove on as the last car but one.
The further out from Oban we got and the closer to Craignure, the thinner the clouds. A short drive around the coast and we pitched up in Tober(Bala)mory. The campsite was splendid, as were the fish and chips on the harbour wall in the evening sun.
The weather forecast was good for the weekend - we had everything crossed!
